This is the online EFAW for Forestry part one, which means it will require a practical part two for you to be awarded the full certificate. Please make sure you make arrangements with a suitable instructor for the completion of part two first by locating a course on procourses. The ProTrainings Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 course (EFAW) is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment has identified that there is no requirement for a fully trained first aider for their workplace. This course is available as a ProTrainings CPD certified qualification, all courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2017 and meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981 and subsequent 2017 changes.

This course includes the latest CPR and Coronavirus recommendations.

Also included to comply with the latest HSE and ERC guidelines, are Tourniquets and Haemostatic dressings.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements. ProTrainings Vocational Training Qualifications (VTQ) are fully recognised by the HSE as Trade Body Qualifications.

This version of the EFAW course includes the extra subjects required by the Forestry Commission to include extra subjects covered include severe cuts like chainsaws, crush injuries, Hypothermia and Lyme Disease.

To renew you need to attend another EFAW-F 7-hour course or blended course where the course is completed online and in the classroom.

In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer-based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.

You now have the option to complete your Emergency First Aid at Work course as a blended course, with 3 hours of online training followed by 4 hours in the classroom. Our blended training allows you to learn the theory at your pace, one to one with your instructor at a time that suits you.

This blended EFAW course meets all of the requirements of the HSE and Awarding Organisations and is available as a ProTrainings or Regulated Qualification.  This qualification is accepted in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is also accepted in many other countries. Students must be a minimum age is 14 years old.

This course comes with 7.0 hours of CPD, although the time to complete the course online may be less than this. Total course time includes 3 hours and 8 minutes of video training as well as knowledge reviews, final test, remedial help and reviewing downloaded material.

Unit 1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace (credit can be given in some cases if already completed recently)

1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider

  • 1.1 Identify the role and responsibilities of a first aider

2. Be able to assess an incident

  • 2.1 Conduct a scene survey
  • 2.2 Conduct a primary survey of a casualty
  • 2.3 Summon appropriate assistance when necessary

3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty

  • 3.1 Identify when to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • 3.2 Demonstrate CPR using a manikin
  • 3.3 Justify when to place a casualty into the recovery position
  • 3.4 Demonstrate how to place a casualty into the recovery position
  • 3.5 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is experiencing a seizure

4. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking

  • 4.1 Identify when choking is: - mild - severe
  • 4.2 Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty who is choking

5. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding

  • 5.1 Identify the severity of external bleeding
  • 5.2 Demonstrate control of external bleeding

6. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock

  • 6.1 Recognise a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • 6.2 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock

7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

  • 7.1 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty with: - small cuts - grazes - bruises - small splinters
  • 7.2 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty with minor burns and scalds
